Rev (Dr) & Rev Mrs Gift O. Asuru (District Superintendent)

The District was born by the defunct Western Rivers District.  The District became functional after its inaugural meeting on 14th January 2003 at Assemblies of God (AG), Mile 1 Diobu.

At its Inaugural Council, chaired by the General Superintendent Rev. Dr. Charles Ogbonnaya Osueke, then Rev. Gift O. Asuru emerged as the Pioneer District Superintendent until he came on board, he was an officer – (District Treasurer) in the cabinet of the Defunct Western Rivers District.

1.  Though the formation stage was stormy due to petition and counter petition arising from the officers of the Defunct Western Rivers District but God in His infinite mercy and grace helped the District to go through it without a crack on its wall.

IKWERRE DISTRICT AS YOU CAN SEE AT PRESENT

With her visionary leadership, the District started with spiritual reforms and provision of infrastructure that has given it pride in the comity of Districts.  As William James said, “The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it”, that you can find in this dynamic District.  Under this short time, a permanent residence for its Superintendent is built, more than 100 plots of land is acquired for camp meeting and other programmes.  It is worthy of note that a secretariat complex is under construction in this administration.  According to Mike Singletary, (our) my favourite part of the game is the opportunity to play.

The expansion and growth of the District spurred the leadership of the national church to create a new district from the existing one, that gave birth to Ikwerre South District in August 23rd, 2010.
